CFUW Windsor Hosts Municipal Mayoral Debate
Windsor, ON. – The Windsor Chapter of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) will host a Mayoral Debate at 7 pm on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 in the Great Lakes Room at the WFCU Centre in advance of the October 22nd Municipal Elections.
The debate will feature each of the candidates: Drew Dilkens, Frank Dyck, Tom Hensel, Ernie Lamont, and Matt Marchand.
CFUW is a voluntary, non-profit, self-funded, non-partisan, non-governmental organization of close to 10,000 graduate women, students and Associate Members in 112 Clubs in Canada who advocate for equality for women and girls. CFUW seeks to improve access to education for women, for peace, justice, human rights and to support programs that improve the environment. CFUW has special consultative status with the United Nations. CFUW serves on the Sectoral Committee on Education of the Canadian Sub-Commission to UNESCO. CFUW is the largest affiliate of the 79 member International Federation of University Women (IFUW) see www.ifuw.org.

CFUW Windsor currently has three interest groups:
CFUW has a mandate to support lifelong learning for women. In particular, CFUW’s policies:
- Promote high standards of public education in Canada, advanced study and research by women, and sound concept of life-long learning.
- Advocate for the advancement of the status of women, human rights and the common good locally, nationally and internationally.
- Promote cooperation, networking, support and understanding among women.
- Encourage and enable women to apply their knowledge and skills in leadership and decision-making in all aspects of the political, social, cultural, educational and scientific fields.
The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Windsor will be presenting a Candidates Meeting in advance of the Federal Election on Wednesday September 9th from 7pm to 9pm at the Caboto Club, 2175 Parent Ave. in Windsor. The meeting will focus on four (4) main topics: Jobs and Economic Growth, The Environment, Foreign Affairs, and Childcare/Early Learning. The panel will be moderated by CTV Windsor’s Christie Bezaire and will have representation from the Green Party (David Momotiuk), the Liberal Party (Frank Schiller), and the NDP (Tracie Ramsey).
